Kabalab LLC is a Brooklyn-based product development and design studio founded by
Karlheinz Schempp and Barbara Kohler. With their sense of adventure, Barbara Kohler
and Karlheinz Schempp turn curiosity and enthusiasm into creations that are establishing
them as a unique design team with great synergy. They create innovative personal
accessories, elegant furniture and enjoyable everyday objects which are playful and
functional, lean and modern, sophisticated and beautifully simple. Kabalab takes a holistic
approach on every project, pursuing innovation with their distinctive combination of
culture, humor, functional interpretation and manufacturing technologies. Barbara and
Karlheinz earned degrees in industrial and graphic design in Germany and are holders of
